Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy

This episode features an interview with Dr. Carol ZA McGinnis, who discusses her new book designed for students and practitioners who are interested in a practical application of spirituality in psychotherapy. Carol also discusses her work researching the intersection of spirituality and video gaming.

Dr. Carol ZA McGinnis is a pastoral counselor and ACPE Spiritually-Integrated Psychotherapy trainer and practitioner. She is also a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Approved Supervisor in the State of Maryland. Carol’s past clinical work experience has included work with teens and families, the elderly, disabled individuals, children in schools, and clients from a wide variety of ages and diagnoses.

In this episode, we interview Russell Siler Jones who is developing the Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy (SIP) program with ACPE. The program will help therapists increase their knowledge and skills for working with their clients’ spirituality, as well as helping therapists learn ethically appropriate ways of drawing upon their own spirituality in the therapeutic relationship.
