In this episode, we interview Tahara Akmal, a ACPE Certified Educator in Washington, D.C. Tahara describes her own journey through CPE and her approach working with patients in the hospital setting.
In May 2015, Tahara made history as the first Muslim woman since ACPE’s inception in 1967, certified as an Associate Supervisor. She was certified as a Full ACPE Supervisor in March 2016.
Tres Adames is the Host and Producer of "Spiritual Care Today," the official podcast of the Journal of Pastoral Care Publications. Tres is a Board Certified Pastoral Counselor with Prism Counseling & Coaching in Phoenix, Arizona. He holds a Master of Divinity from Wesley Biblical Seminary and Bachelor of Arts from Asbury University. Tres is an active member of ACPE (the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education) and previously served on the ACPE Psychotherapy Commission from 2020 to 2021.
